Once children learn how to learn, nothing is going to narrow their mind. The essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another. –Marva Collin

We Celebrate Andie!

 Andie

Committee Members:

Alex, Alexander, Caroline and Camille

The interview:

T:

Andie’s Celebration is Friday!  Our job is to find out what Andie would like us to make her.  Who has an idea?

Caroline:

A unicorn?

Andie:

Yes.

Camille:

Do you want a princess castle with princesses in it?

Andie:

Yes!

Alex:

Maybe she would want a unicorn with a princess castle?  Andie, I think it would be a ballerina.

Andie:

Yeah.  I want everything!

Camille:

So we could make a unicorn with a castle and a princess and ballerina on the top?

Camille:

Do you want a unicorn castle with princesses and a ballerina?  She says yes, she wants it like that.

T:

It sounds like we are making a castle!  What details do we need to find out from Andie?

Camille:

Andie, what color do you like?

Andie:

I like the color golden.

Caroline:

What is your favorite color?

Andie:

Red and pink.

T:

Alexander, do you know anything about castles?

Alexander:

No.

Alex:

Well, castles do have roofs that are pointy!

Camille:

I know that they have princesses in them.  I know that they also might have fancy things inside of them.

T:

We may not have time to make all of the accessories to the castle, but we can try!

Work in progress:

As they draw their ideas, the committee members discuss their ideas and give suggestions to one another.

Caroline and Camille both remark on the difficulty of painting a large box, but work together to complete the task!

Alexander and Alex use a ruler to ensure that the paper towel roll will be cut exactly in half.  Alexander points out 5.5" and Alex marks the location with a marker.

Alexander mixes the red and white paint and decides the color is just the right shade of pink.

Alex and Alexander use their fine motor control to paint the paper towel rolls.

Caroline uses her fine motor control to shake the glitter over the cup.

Camille demonstrates her knowledge of shapes as she draws a rectangle for the drawbridge.

Committee members use their creativity to draw princesses and a ballerina to adorn the windows of the castle.

Caroline and Camille test the cellophane to make sure it was transparent enough to see their drawings.

Committee members use their knowledge of letters as they match each letter of Andie's name.

Andie's Castle!
