This week, we completed self-portraits for the first time. It was amazing to watch the children look closely at their reflections and add details to their drawings. As they drew, they made observations and helped one another note changes and details of their own features. Fine motor skills are developed through the representation process and are documented throughout the year as their portraits gain detail and proportion. As we complete these self-portraits each month, we closely track their fine motor development and spatial awareness. We document each self-portrait on the Seesaw app, which you have hopefully seen this week. It is always amazing to compare the September self-portraits to the ones they will complete in May!
In
addition to the self-portraits, you can expect to see still-life
representations and other work throughout the year. Feel free to comment on your child’s post-
they love to hear your feedback. You can
post both text and audio comments! If
you are having difficulty accessing your child’s journal on Seesaw, please let
us know!
