Once children learn how to learn, nothing is going to narrow their mind. The essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another. –Marva Collin

A Picture Tells a Story...

Ashton counts 16 friends in our circle.  Troy is missing.  We wish him well!  Ashton writes “Music” on our calendar.

T:

We wanted to share how proud we were of all of the stories that have been written so far.  This is a very creative group!  We have an activity today that you may find interesting.  I have a bag of pictures.  These pictures will help inspire me to think of a story.  I picked a picture of a…

All:

PIZZA!

T:

“One day a boy named Greg went into a pizza shop and ordered a pizza with spiders on it…”  Who can continue?

Gwen:

(picks a picture of a bear)  The bear is walking to a bridge, then a bunny rabbit hopped on tp of the bear, but the bear kept moving.  The bunny fell into a pool and the bunny swam to the house.  Then the bear found Mrs. Rich and Miss Kopp.

Naomi:

(picks a picture of a pool)  The bear fell into the pool!  Then Mrs. Rich and Miss Kopp fell into the pool and sinked.

T:

Oh my goodness!

Caroline:

(picks a picture of Mickey)  He fell into the pool, too!  Minnie Mouse came and rescued Mickey, Mrs. Rich and Miss Kopp.

Camille:

(picks a picture of a rocket ship)  Then they took a rocket ship all the way to space!  They flew them back home.

Quinn:

(picks a picture of a forest)  They were walking to karate.  Then they went to have a picnic after karate in the forest.

Andie:

(picks a picture of a cake)  Then they ate some cake and they went to a bubble gum store.  Then they ate bubble gum!

Forest:

(picks a picture of a fairy)  She went in the store.  She ate the cake!  She ate all of it!

Daniel:

(picks a picture of sandwich)  The fairy eats it.  She gets a belly ache.

Griffin:

(picks a picture of dinosaur)  The dinosaur ate all the people in the world.  It ate your phone.

Luke:

(picks a picture of a snowman)  It was so cold and when they went outside it was hot, so the snowman burned.

Ashton:

(picks a picture of an airplane)  They are going to Disney.  They going to Hawaii to the Tilki Tikki Room.

Josephine:

(picks a picture of a tractor)  The tractor took them back home.

Cian:

(picks a picture of a castle)  Then they all went to the castle.  That was their home.

T:

What a silly story!  Do you see how pictures can inspire our imaginations?  We notice you using your own creativity in the classroom- how you use the blocks, how you explore in the Beautiful Stuff, Legos… Even in our kitchen!  You are finding new ways to use the boxes and creating things with just a box!
